December 2007 marked the take-off of 2007 Top 10 Real Estate Industry Leaders Award assessment together with Sino-French Real Estate and Architecture Exchange and France Tour. The award based itself in an ancient chateau in France this year, representing the start of a summit dialogue between the Chinese real estate industry and its European counterpart. On the 5th this month, Werkhart International vice China Manager Dr. Yunwei Zhao guested at focus.cn, where he debated the topical issues of this France tour including the French style and identity in the science of architecture as well as the French contribution to the world’s architecture and that of China. Dr. Zhao argued that every conserved European township distinguishes itself with unique historical background and local cultural features, which can never ever be duplicated at any other locations. Now we have observed sizable real estate developments which seek to erect a replica of a hundreds-years-old town or city within one or two years. Such effort will never go further than a mere manufacture of consumer goods in that it is striped of historical and cultural significance.
